Very nice train station. I encourage you to take the surf liner to travel it’s safer, faster and more confortable than taking the freeway. Also the views are mesmerizing. Follow me on google maps for more tips.
Do not use this station at night. No signs or staff. wrong info was displayed on screen. Screen said northbound trains were platform 2. Once I got to that platform, the train arrived in platform 1. Sketchy men hanging around at night, felt unsafe and isolated.
personal opinion: Head to Solana Beach. The station is nicer and straightforward. Impossible to miss your train.
This is a nice, clean municipal train station. I jumped on here at 7am on a gorgeous Friday morning, taking the Surfliner to LA. There were a couple homeless folks around, otherwise it was fairly quiet. The Amtrak office was open, as were nearby bathrooms, but little else. The train was on time.

This train station is very sketchy. Homeless and drug users all over. I have to go there twice a week for work and it’s pretty scary waiting by myself for the train. It’d be nice if there was some security or if Oceanside would work on cleaning it up from the riff raft. And now the office is closed and it’s deserted buildings.
Extremely disorganized station with inaccurate signs, trains arriving at the wrong platform and absolutely no help. I missed my train because it came to the opposite platform and instead of helping me, the attendant decided to ask me for a bribe and mock me when I refused to pay it. Not to mention all the sketchy activity around here, especially at night. I will be driving or using a different service next time.
I don’t care for this train station. The restrooms lack soap for hand washing and the floors are almost always wet. Some of the most disgusting people in San Diego County loiter here. Bike parking is plentiful so I do lock my bike and walk on the trail while waiting for my connecting train as it’s usually half an hour plus.
The station is okay. If you don't know where you're going it's a little hard to find someone to help you out. The Amtrak and the Coaster come to this station. So you really have to pay attention to which track is operating which train. The fares are really reasonably priced for the Coaster. We haven't tried Amtrak yet. Although there is plenty of parking it can fill up fast. The Coaster ride is a really nice scenic ride, and when you get off at Oceanside (the last northbound stop for the Coaster) you can go walk the pier.
The Oceanside Amtrak station is in the Oceanside transportation station which is awesome! You can catch a city bus to any number of points. There is also a greyhound terminal here, as well as Amtrak servicing their Pacific surfliner, coaster and sprinter lines. The station is within walking distance of most major hotels and the Oceanside beach and pier, not to mention many eateries. There is a Burger King at the station too
